Goblins & Gunslingers on Steam
Native Windows and macOS clients, in Early Access since August 16, 2026. Free to play, and still free when Early Access ends.
Early Access
The same duel, off the browser tab.
The desktop client is the same game as the one at the Outpost — same 276 active cards, same eight factions, same account. It just runs as a native application, with achievements and a store built on Steam Wallet.
What comes with it
- Your account rides along. Sign in with Steam, or with the login you already use here. One collection, one deck box, both places.
- Achievements are in. The desktop build ships with the full Steam achievement set; the browser version does not have them.
- Every mode is here. Ranked and casual multiplayer, Frontier Run, the tutorial, the pack opener, the deck builder, and single-player against Greenhorn, Gunslinger or Legend.
- Nothing moved behind a wall. Cosmetics and Ore are optional and bought through Steam Wallet. There is nothing you can buy that wins you a duel.
- The browser game stays put. Nothing to download, nothing to install, still free at the Outpost.
What Early Access means here
Early Access usually means paying early for something unfinished. That is not the trade here, because there is nothing to pay. What it does mean is that the game is out and playable today, and that it is genuinely not done. Cards, balance passes and modes keep landing while people play, and a card you built a deck around can read differently a fortnight later.
Honestly: ranked is live but its season structure is still thin, Frontier Run has one stage of a longer climb, and the Linux desktop client builds in house without a storefront to sit on. Those are on the roadmap, in the open, with no dates attached that we cannot keep.
This Steam Early Access game is currently not a finished game and may or may not change significantly over the course of development.

The questions people actually ask
Everything below is true on the day of writing. If something changes, this page changes with it.
- Is Goblins & Gunslingers free on Steam?
- Yes. It is free to play, and it stays free when Early Access ends. There is no purchase, no trial window and no paid tier. Ore and cosmetics are optional and go through Steam Wallet on desktop, and nothing you can buy wins you a duel.
- Does Goblins & Gunslingers run on Mac?
- Yes. The Steam release ships a native macOS client alongside the 64-bit Windows client. Those two are the only platforms on Steam today.
- Is there a Linux build on Steam?
- No. A native Linux client builds and runs in house, but it is not on a storefront yet. Until it is, Linux players get the full game free in the browser at the Outpost.
- Do I keep my browser collection if I play on Steam?
- Yes. Sign in with Steam or with the same login you use on the website and your collection, decks and progress follow you. One collection, one deck box, both places.
- Are there Steam achievements?
- Yes. The desktop build ships the full Steam achievement set. The browser version tracks your progress but has no achievements.
- What does Early Access mean for Goblins & Gunslingers?
- The game is out and playable today, and it is not finished. Cards, balance passes and modes keep landing while people play, and things change between one duel and the next. This Steam Early Access game is currently not a finished game and may or may not change significantly over the course of development. Because the game is free, Early Access here is not a discount or a pre-order — nothing is being sold.
- Is there an iPhone or Android version?
- Not yet. iOS and Android builds are in development and have not shipped. A phone browser will run the browser version at the Outpost today.
- Do I need Steam to play Goblins & Gunslingers at all?
- No. The browser version at the Outpost is the same game with the same cards and the same account, free, with nothing to download and nothing to install.
Or skip the install entirely
The Outpost is the whole game in a browser tab — the same 52-card decks, the same 30 starting health, the same five Middle lanes and two High-Rise lanes. It costs nothing, it needs no client, and it works on a laptop that would flinch at a download.
Most people try a duel there first and install the desktop build later, once they know they want the achievements. Either order is fine; the account is the same one.
Know what you are walking into
It is a lane game, not a pile game, and the two-currency economy catches most people out on turn three. Twenty minutes of reading here saves a run of ugly losses on the frontier.
The rules
Mana ramps every turn; gold pays you for aggression. Deputies, Covers and High-Rise targeting all sit on top of that.
The factions
Eight of them — Human, Goblin, Desert Devil, Straw Elf, Gnome, Dwarf, Golem, and a Beast splash. Two main races per deck, no more.
What comes next
What is shipped, what is being built now, and what is still down the trail — kept current, and honest about the gaps.
